STA WPSL begins its 2023 campaign on Saturday, June 3rd when the club hosts NY Dutch Lions at Robert T. Shields Field, Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham Campus. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free to attend. The women will then travel to Central Islip on Sunday to face SUSA.
“I’m really excited to kick off the WPSL season this weekend and work with this very talented group of women this summer,” Head Coach Ylon Krauweel said. “The first couple of weeks of training have been very impressive, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd on Saturday.”
STA WPSL is in its third season with the WPSL, and the squad will compete in the Metropolitan Conference again this season. Last summer, the club went on a five game unbeaten streak before dropping its final two games against the top two teams in the league, finishing with a 4-3-1 record.
With over 20 returning players from last year, many of whom are STA alumni, the club looks to continue building on its previous success and become a top competitor in a tough conference.
“With a large core group returning from last year, and with some strong new additions, we feel that this is our strongest squad thus far,” Krauweel said. “Our players are working hard, and we can’t wait to showcase our team and inspire the next generation of young soccer players.”
