Masur Signs Professional Contract

Posted February 26, 2025

Congratulations to STA WPSL standout Sydney Masur on signing a professional contract with Fortuna Hjørring in Hjørring, Denmark!

“I never had any doubt Sydney would go pro,” said Katie Quinlan, STA WPSL Head Coach. “She is a natural leader and a fighter who commands respect in midfield. She will be a loss to our organization, but we are proud of her achievement and can’t wait to follow her professional journey in Denmark and beyond.”

Masur was a member of the STA WPSL squad from 2022-2024. This past season, she was named to the WPSL Best XI in the Metropolitan Conference, and helped STA to be nationally recognized for the first time in program history.

“Syd has been an important part of our STA Girls Academy and STA WPSL team the past few years, leading by example and inspiring those around her, both coaches and players.” said Kelly Sims, STA Girls Academy Director. “Congratulations to former STA coaches Erwin van Bennekom, Tim Verschuren and Seve Hirst.”

In her four seasons with Indiana University, Masur played in 68 games, making 56 career starts and totaling over 4,500 minutes on the pitch while helping the team qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 2023. The Montclair, New Jersey native was a two-time College Sport Communicators Academic All-District and two-time All-Big Ten Academic honoree during her collegiate career, and earned All-Big Ten freshman team honors in 2021.
