The 2023 campaign begins on Wednesday, May 17th when FC Motown STA hosts Morris Elite SC at Montclair State University for a 7:30pm kickoff. You can purchase game tickets ahead of time online or at the gate.
“Having the opener be against our local rival Morris Elite should be a great spectacle and is the type of occasion and experience we need more of in order to keep growing the game in this country,” Head Coach Tom Shields said. “We hope to see you there!”
All current STA youth players receive free admission!
The FC Motown STA roster features familiar faces such as STA alumni and Ivy League Rookie of the Year Ryan Friedberg, as well as last season’s leading goal scorer Micaah Garnette. The squad will also welcome new additions like current NCAA D1 National Champion Curt Calov, MAC Hermann Trophy watchlist selection Emil Jaaskelainen, and NY Red Bull Academy players Sam Williams, Bryce LeBel and JC Cortez.
“We are super excited to get our 2023 USL League 2 campaign underway,” Shields said. “A lot of hard work has gone in during the off-season to build a group that we are confident will be one of the most exciting to watch in the country, and we can’t wait to showcase our players and team to our fans and the young players across NJ and NY. There are future pros in the group for sure, and I am grateful for the support shown by a number of the country’s top collegiate programs in allowing us to have the types of players at our disposal that we do this summer.”
