Tim Verschuren is our Girls Academy Director. Holding a USSF A Youth License, Verschuren who also holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma became the STA Girls Director of Coaching in February 2019.
With an Undergraduate Degree in Sports Management from the Hague University, Holland, the former NJIT Women's Soccer Assistant and current girls talent scout for US Soccer, was responsible for leading a number of the STA girls teams to National events and to both Regional and State successes. Tim has been instrumental in the recent commitments of a number of the club's female players to NCAA Division I programs, immediately demonstrating the value he brings to his role. In the first season and only season within the Girls Development Academy he oversaw the call up of 3 players to the US YNT camps in Mackenzie Gress, Kyla Holmes and Sophia Bradley. We are very fortunate to have him. Tim is also the assistant women soccer coach at FDU Teaneck
Tim, lives with his wife Kelly in Flanders, NJ and should you have any questions about the Girls Program or any of the new Player Development Initiatives and how they relate to your daughter, he can be reached at: email@example.com.
Kelly Sims is STA's Zone 1 Girls Director and behind Executive Director Shane Bullock, is the longest serving staff member currently working at STA. During her time at STA Kelly has forged herself an ever growing reputation in the game. She has become one of the few females in the country to undertake her U.S Soccer National A Youth License and U.S Soccer Talent Scout License while she is also a current member of the U.S Club Soccer Id2 Girls National Staff. In addition to the work she performs on the field at STA, Kelly has been instrumental in the community based initiatives ran by the club, namely our Hope For The Holidays and #STAstrong cancer campaigns. A member of English professional sides Arsenal and Reading along with the Jersey Blues here in N.J, Kelly is another with a wealth of experience to share with all of our players that we are fortunate to call one of our own. She lives with husband Tim in Flanders.
Rebecca Tweed is one of the most recognizable figures on staff at STA. Having been involved with the program in various capacities over the last decade, Becki has gone on to establish herself as one of the up and coming female coaches in the game in the US. A former NCAA Division I Conference Winning Assistant Coach during her tenure at Monmouth University Women's Soccer, Becki who also holds the U.S Soccer National B and C Licenses and was previously an academy coach within the Girls Development Academy at Cedar Stars Monmouth, is the Head Coach across a number of our girls teams and has been instrumental in supporting a host of our players (most noticeably the 2002 Girls Team) through their collegiate commitment process. As a former professional player in England (Millwall, Bristol City) and here in the US with the Jersey Blues, Becki has a wealth of experience to share with our players and having her support in their development is something we are all incredibly grateful for.
Neill Miles brings a wealth of knowledge to the STA family. With over 20 years of coaching experience, from Bournemouth Youth Centre of Excellence (where he worked under Eddie Howe) to current day, where his leadership and guidance has not only developed young talent, but placed players into some of the top programs in the country.
Neill has coached in many countries all over the world, including England, Indonesia, Germany and Spain before coming to the US. Neill is also the Professional Development Director for ATSC overseeing 74 coaches, alongside being on the National Staff for the NSCAA, certifying coaches up to the National Diploma level. Neill also coached ODP and has been Director of Coaching at Everton America, NJ Stallions and more recently Director of Coaching at PSA SDFC
Neill's philosophy is not only to develop players on the field, but help make them grow off of it. He feels perception is everything and expects all his players to have high standards of respect and class for everyone around them.
Zack Roth is STA's Goalkeeping Director. He joined STA in the Fall of 2018, and has had an immediate impact on the club’s goalkeepers. Prior to Zack’s time at STA, he was the Goalkeeping Director at Cedar Stars in Monmouth Academy, working with their boy’s Development Academy goalkeepers.
Zack is a USSF-licensed coach, who also holds the prestigious Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma from the USC (formerly NSCAA), as well as his National Diploma (team coaching).
