Andy Steer
Coach
Andy Steer

Hailing from Leicester, England, Andy joins SONESOCCER with an extensive background in coaching in both England and the United States, as well as children's education. Andy began his coaching experience with UK Soccer of Pennsylvania. He interacted daily with players of all ages creating and implementing lesson plans designed specifically to each ability and age group. Over the past three years Andy has been working at a primary school in his hometown in the UK, focusing mainly within the Physical Education department. Andy is a qualified SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) trainer, and has been responsible for developing and leading soccer specific SAQ sessions with many local teams. Coupled with his enthusiastic and infectious personality, Andy's experience within the field has enabled him to become an excellent leader and communicator.

Andy is a highly qualified coach having a UEFA 'C' Coaching License, a Sports Science National Diploma and a Bachelors degree in Sports Education, which he earned from Liverpool John Moore's University. He played competitively until injury curtailed his career, playing at a club level, then at college, where he reached a Regional Final. Moving his attentions to coaching, Andy coached the Men's University Soccer team to the championship, working with former professional players from Manchester Utd, Newcastle Utd and Sunderland.

Andy's love and passion for soccer led him into the world of coaching. "My goal is to continue to pass on my knowledge and understanding of the game to the playing I am working with", he says, "I hope that inspires the same love and passion of the game that I have".

Andy is a huge fan of Leicester City FC and watches them whenever he is in the UK.

The Celtic team will get together for the Spring season, as a supplement to existing travel commitments. Please note that this is not intended to replace existing year round teams.

The Celtic will have two training sessions per week (Monday / Friday) of which players must attend one. In addition, the team will play 6-8 games in MAPS league, and one tournament. Games will be scheduled early or late on Saturday and Sunday, to avoid conflicts with existing club programs.

While not part of the STA program, STA youth teams often choose to stay together and participate in a summer program, participating in a Pre-Y tournament program, taking in the best of youth soccer across New Jersey and beyond throughout June and July. While popular, this is an option, and not part of the STA program.
